Latest News and Product InformationThe Easysoft ODBC-SQL Server Driver is a Unix/Linux SQL Server ODBC driver for 7.0, 2000, 2005 and Express. Version 1.1 of the Easysoft ODBC-SQL Server Driver now also connects Unix (AIX, HP-UX and Solaris) and Linux (CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Mandrake, RedHat, SUSE and Ubuntu) to SQL Server 2008. Download the SQL Server driver to access SQL Server 7.0—2008 and SQL Server Express from Unix and Linux platforms. Other key features of ODBC-SQL Server Driver release 1.1: - Improved security Protects SQL Server data transmitted between Unix/Linux and Windows with strong encryption and TLS. Connects to SQL instances running in FIPS 140-2 compliance mode.
- Improved Unicode support Prevents Unicode data corruption by converting between SQL Server (UCS-2) and Unix/Linux (UTF-8) encoding schemes.
- Windows Authentication mode enhancements Supports NTLMv2 to enhance the security of the Windows Authentication mode. Supports automatic domain discovery, reducing the amount of configuration needed for Unix/Linux users to access SQL Server through a Windows domain account.
- Microsoft driver extensions Supports the SQL_COPT_SS_PRESERVE_CURSORS, SQL_COPT_SS_INTEGRATED_SECURITY and SQL_SOPT_SS_DEFER_PREPARE driver extensions.

Easysoft is pleased to announce that only a few days after Oracle released 11g for Linux, we have released our Oracle ODBC Driver version 3.2 with full support for Oracle 11g. Easysoft use OCI, Oracle’s only supported application interface for the Oracle database. This means we can be: - Quick to market with support for 11g, because we only need to look at changes made to OCI to see if we can make use of new features.
- Confident that undocumented protocol changes will not affect our driver (unlike some other drivers, which do not use OCI).
- Confident that our driver is compatible with new features in Oracle such as:
- Client-Side Query Cache, which enables caching of query result sets in client memory. The cached result set data is transparently kept consistent with any changes done on the server side.
- OCI Runtime Connection Load Balancing. In Oracle RAC environments, session pools to services use service metrics to load balance sessions across different instances at runtime.
- Network/OCI Fusion, which increases the throughput and decreases the overhead of data transfer through OCI/Network layers.
- Sure that all the latest network security changes and enhancements work reliably with our driver (unlike drivers not using OCI).

The Easysoft ODBC-SQL Server Driver provides ODBC access to Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, 2000 and 2005 from Linux and Unix platforms. Key features: - Connects any ODBC-enabled Linux/Unix application to SQL Server. For example, Apache, ApplixWare, Informatica, OpenOffice.org and StarOffice.
- Lets you access SQL Server from Perl, PHP, PEAR DB, Python, C and any other ODBC-enabled programming language or interface.
- Supports SQL Server 2005 features such as database mirroring, MARS, XML data types, large-value data types, snapshot isolation and self-signed SSL certificates.
- Maintains data availability through connection failover allowing your applications to connect to a backup server if the primary SQL Server machine is unavailable.
- Supports encrypted SSL connections to Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005. Encrypting the network connection between your application and SQL Server database protects your data against packet sniffing attacks.

Additional improvements include scrollable cursor support and XA support. What’s new in Easysoft ODBC-JDBC Gateway version 2.0? The Easysoft ODBC-RMS Driver now lets ODBC-enabled applications access RMS data on the OpenVMS Itanium (i64) 64-bit platform. VAX and Alpha customers who are currently migrating their RMS data to OpenVMS Itanium (i64) systems can therefore rely on the Easysoft ODBC-RMS Driver for ODBC access to these high performance systems. Customers who have yet to make the transition can be confident that Easysoft is committed to ODBC access to RMS data on the most current OpenVMS platforms. Access Oracle databases significantly faster with the new Easysoft ODBC-Oracle Driver 3.0 release. Key improvements: These improvements further protect your investment in Oracle and ensure you can concentrate on core business functionality while we take care of the data access layer. The Easysoft ODBC-Oracle Driver accesses Oracle databases using the only method supported by Oracle: the Oracle client libraries. The client libraries support the entire Oracle database feature set. They let you develop high performance, secure, scalable and fault-tolerant applications. More. |
